Description:

Dorsal aspect of the planarian (Bipalium kewense) with a partial view of the ventral surface. Note the rounded posterior end indicating reproduction by scissiparity.

B. kewense, general morphology, ventral surface.
The dark transverse neck band is incomplete ventrally, and the paired diffuse grey-purplish stripes delineate the off-white creeping sole. The position of the mouth is indicated by *, and the approximate position of the plicate protrusible pharynx within the body is evident as the pale area either side of the mouth.
