Abstract:

Planaria torva is a fresh-water triclad reproducing only sexually. Investigations accomplished on a laboratory strain derived from a single specimen have shown that this planarian belongs to the iteroparous species. Moreover, the animals have shown a peculiar reproductive characteristic, namely, a high production of cocoons, most of which, however, are sterile.
