Dugesia japonica
General description:
Dugesia japonica is a species of freshwater triclad widely distributed in East Asia. It is considered the most common freshwater planarian in Japan. D. japonica is used as a model organism in many regeneration studies.
Distribution:
Japanese Islands (except for the Ryûkyû Islands), Taiwan, Korea and China.
Type locality: A brook at Genchi, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, Chûbu Region, Honshû, Japan.
