Humbertium
General description:
Humbertium is a genus of land planarian. Like the rest of Bipaliinae members, their species present a semilunar head and a narrow creeping sole. They also have a continuous sensory groove, a collared pharynx, and a penis papilla. What makes this genus different from the rest of Bipaliinae is the anterodorsal entrance of the ovovitelline ducts into the female organs.
Type species - Humbertium ravenalae (von Graff, 1899).
Distribution:
Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka, China, Sarawak, and West Malaysia.
With the exception of Bipalium kewense, which is a widespread species because of human activities, Humbertium is the only genus of the subfamily Bipaliinae present in Madagascar.
