Dugesia bactriana
General description:
Dugesia bactriana is a freshwater planarian species first described by Paul de Beauchamp in 1959 from specimens collected in Afghanistan.
The species color is yellowish grey. Head has a triangular shape with its anterior tip rounded and short auricles. Size reaches 15 mm in length and 4 mm width.
Among known Dugesia species, D. bactriana is distinguished by the presence of three muscular and glandular organs in its copulatory apparatus.
Distribution:
Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Habitat:
D. bactriana inhabits freshwater bodies at an altitude of 1500 to 2690 meters above the sea level. Specimens have been found at the foot of waterfalls (in Darreh Zang) and sources (in Masdjed-Tchoubi, Chileh Hamman).
