Dugesia notogaea
Diagnostic description:
Acentral ejaculatory duct that opens terminally at the tip of the penial papilla; the intrabulbar seminal vesicle and the diaphragm are connected by a well-developed duct; the ovaries open asymetrically into the bursal canal; hyperplastic ovaries.
Morphology:
Living specimens of D. notogaea are over 15 mm in length and 4 mm in width. Dorsal surface of coarsely mottled grey pale brown or reddish brown. Ventral surface translucent white to pale grey. The head has a low triangle shape, with two unpigmented auricles. The pharynx is unpigmented and located in the middle of the body.
Distribution:
It has been found in Porcupine Gorge National Park, North Queensland, Australia.
Habitat:
Freshwater: streams and rivers.
